Ultrasound

Even if you have had a positive pregnancy test, it is important to have the test confirmed with an ultrasound exam. Approximately 25 percent of all pregnancies end naturally in miscarriage. A good way to determine the likelihood of miscarriage is through an ultrasound exam. If the pregnancy is not progressing normally, it will likely end naturally in miscarriage. In these cases, you may not need to have an abortion.

The ultrasound exam can help answer the following questions:

  • Is the fetus located where it should be (in the uterus and not the tube)?
  • Approximately how far along are you?
  • Is there fetal cardiac (heart) activity?

Making a decision you feel good about includes getting all the information you need. If you are considering abortion, we may be able to provide you with an ultrasound confirmation free of charge, to help you determine the viability of your pregnancy. And unlike some facilities, at Birth Choice, we allow you to see the results of the scan.
